Every animal we see these days is a "baby" something according to my 4 year old. It can be the oldest dog, hobbling along with a tired gray face and she stills coos "look at that baby doggie!". There is a magical age between toddlerhood and elementary school where every being gets classified as "baby" or "grown-up". Birds seem to be "baby" in our house, so when I finished this hat there were squeals of "ooh, look at that baby birdie!!". I just thought it would look sweet perched on a baby's head...
